Wen Y. Chen, M.D.

A member of the Illinois Eye Specialists’ practice (now affiliated with SureVision Eye Centers – Midwest) since 1990, Dr. Wen Chen earned his Ph.D. degree in Immunology from the University of Illinois and his medical doctorate from the Medical School at the University of South Carolina. He later completed an internship at the University of Illinois and an ophthalmic residency at the St. Louis University Group of Hospitals. Currently, he is a staff physician at the SureVision Surgery and Laser Center in Maryville, Illinois. He also is on staff at St. Anthony’s and Alton Memorial Hospitals in Alton, Illinois; St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, Illinois; Anderson Hospital in Maryville; and the Outpatient Surgery Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

A member and board-certified ophthalmologist of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Chen specializes in small-incision cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery and glaucoma treatment. He has received many honors, including a Young Investigator Research Award from the National Institute of Health and Resident of the Year in 1990 at the St. Louis University Group of Hospitals.
